Overview

This course will look at the practical aspects of using and placing traps and help build confidence to ensure compliance when using these tools. This programme is suitable for anyone interested in learning how to use a trap safely.

During the Practical Vertebrate Trapping programme, you will learn:

1. Species involved, their behaviour and identification - moles, rabbits, rodents, squirrels, foxes and mink
2. Legislation relating to trap use
3. Health and safety
4. Types of traps available
5. The trapping process
6. Trap maintenance
7. Documentation
8. Communication

By the end of the course you will be able to:

1. Recognise different traps and understand their use
2. Set traps safely
3. Explain where and how traps can be legally used

Please note traps can cause injury if not used safely.

Upon completion of this programme, you will receive a BPCA certificate of completion.
