Birds can often be a public nuisance however, all birds are protected under the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981. Thankfully, under certain circumstances, some birds can be controlled.

During the Certificate in Bird Management programme, you will learn:
1. Bird legislation
2. Bird identification, biology & behaviour
3. Why urban control?
4. Population reduction - trapping, narcotics, shooting, food restriction
5. Proofing techniques - scaring, netting, spikes and other techniques
6. Surveying and design
If you are sucessful in the BPCA Certificate in Bird Management exam, you will receive the BPCA Certificate in Bird Management qualification with a certificate.

If you already have the required knowledge, you can attend one of our exam days and take the BPCA Certificate in Bird Management exam. The exam is one hour long.

Assessments
At the end of the course, you will take the BPCA Certificate in Bird Management examination. This is in three sections:
• Section A: Biology - 15 questions
• Section B: Control Techniques - 15 questions
• Section C: Health/Safety and Legislation - 15 questions
To pass the exam you must achieve an overall pass mark of 65% and over 50% in the Health/Safety and Legislation section. Anyone failing the exam will need to retake the full exam.
