Aluminium Phosphide if not used correctly is extremely dangerous. Anyone wishing to sell or use Aluminium Phosphide to control rats, rabbits, moles will require an accredited certificate in the safe use of Aluminium Phosphide.

This BPCA course is for anyone who will sell or use aluminium phosphide. This training is appropriate for pest controllers, gamekeepers, agriculture, horticulture and conservation.

Overview

During the Safe use of Aluminium Phosphide for the Management of Vertebrate Pests programme, you will learn:

1. Rats, Moles and Rabbit biology and behaviour basics
2. Why Aluminium Phosphide use must be controlled
3. Health and Safety aspects of using Aluminium Phosphide including emergency procedures
4. Legislation
5. Assessments - Risk assessments, COSHH assessments, Environmental assessments
6. Site surveys
7. PPE and RPE requirements
8. Methods of application, post-treatment procedures, storage and transport of Aluminium Phosphide, disposal of waste
9. Record-keeping
10. Written exam and practical assessment

If you are successful in your exam, you will receive the RSPH Level 2 Award in Using Aluminium Phosphide Safely for the Management of Vertebrate Pests qualification.

Classroom Delivery

Classroom programme

This a two-day classroom-based programme that includes classroom learning, practical work, a written exam and a practical assessment.

Day 1 - Classroom training in the theory and use of Aluminium Phosphide and written exam
Day 2 - Practical assessment

During the 2 day course, you'll sit the RSPH Level 2 Award in Using Aluminium Phosphide Safely for the Management of Vertebrate Pests exam and a practical assessment

Arrive for coffee at 9 am, start at 9:30 am – 4.30 pm, with evening work.

Assessments

To achieve the RSPH Level 2 Award in Using Aluminium Phosphide Safely for the Management of Vertebrate Pests  you will have to complete and pass the following assessments:

• Day 1 RSPH written short answer exam.
• Day 2 Prepare portfolio and take the practical assessment.


The 45 minute written examination is open to anyone and consists of 25 written short answer questions.
