Apply to be a BPCA Registered Master Technician

Instructions

To apply to be a BPCA Registered Master Technician you must have met a list of prerequisites and complete a short portfolio. Your application will then will go to the BPCA Registered Working Group for approval.

To avoid losing any work, we recommend that you complete the application form offline on a word processor document and then copy and paste your responses into the correct boxes.

Prerequisites

To be considered for the Master Technician category of BPCA Registered, you must have met or exceeded a set of prerequisites. 





Your portfolio

Please try to keep to the word count for each section.

Personal statement

Maximum 300 words. Up to 5 points.

Your personal statement should be split into 3 sections:

  1. Provide an overview of what personal characteristics you possess that have helped shape your career, what interests you about this field of work and what drives your passion for the industry? This section should also include the length of time you have been involved in the industry and why you think you should be approved as a Master Technician.
  2. Briefly describe any specialist skills you have gained during your career and any relevant responsibilities you have undertaken that would help support your application.
  3. List any additional qualifications (above the prerequisites) that you feel are relevant to the application.

Site experience

Maximum 1,000 words. Up to 20 points.

Provide up to four examples of work you have undertaken on sites where there has been a considerable challenge.

Where possible, these examples should include a range of environments such as urban, industrial, rural or commercial. You should include details of the challenges faced, how these were overcome and the impact your work had on the site overall. Within each example you should provide details of any innovative or creative solutions utilised.

Support to the industry

Maximum 500 words. Up to 10 points.

Provide details of any work you have done to support the industry.

These could include activities such as speaking engagements, published research and/or articles, committee or working
group participation, etc. Evidence, where available, should be submitted with the portfolio.

Collaborations

Maximum 500 words. Up to 10 points.

Provide details of any collaborations with companies within the sector, industry bodies, related industries or government departments that have benefited the pest control sector. Evidence, where available, should be included when submitting your portfolio.

Learning and development

Maximum 500 words. Up to 10 points.

Provide details of where you have been involved in training development, training delivery, coaching, or mentoring either within your own business or the wider industry. Please provide details of the type of support provided and the benefits it has driven.

Leadership

Maximum 500 words. Up to 10 points.

Provide details of where you have provided leadership skills either within your own business or to the wider industry. You should include details of the challenges faced, how you overcame these and the positive impacts that resulted.

Exceptional customer service

Maximum 750 words. Up to 15 points.

Provide up to three examples of where you have exceeded customer or client or line manager expectations. For each example you should include background information, details of activities, challenges faced and outcomes.
