Servicing Criteria

Officers of the business must not be undischarged bankrupts.

Officers include directors of the company or the senior management level within companies.

Sub-contracting

The business must not contract any work involving the eradication and control of pest species except to other BPCA members.

Insurance

The business must, as a minimum, hold the following insurances:

  • Any business with employees - minimum £10m Employers Liability Insurance
  • Minimum of £2m Public and Products Liability Insurance.

Depending on the nature of the contracts held, the business of your clients or the work you carry out, insurance requirements may be greater. Please consult your broker for their advice.

Codes of Conduct and Best Practice

The business undertakes to abide by Codes of Conduct and Practice, and BPCA Articles and Regulations of Association. This includes adherence to CRRU Codes of Practice and the CRRU Guidance for Internet Sales of Rodenticides.

Training

All staff involved in the eradication and control of pest species must hold one of the following qualifications:

  • RSPH/BPCA Level 2 Award in Pest Management
  • RSPH/BPCA Level 2 Certificate in Pest Control
  • BPC Diploma Part I [previously BPC Diploma]
  • RSPH Certificate in Pest Control
  • NVQ in Pest Control
  • IPCA Diploma
  • Lantra Level 2 Award in Pest Management

If your staff do not hold any of the above qualifications or the business specialises in a particular area (e.g. fumigation), please contact the BPCA office. 

Continual Professional Development (CPD)

All staff involved in the eradication and control of pest species must be committed to CPD demonstrable by being fully compliant members of one of the following recognised CPD schemes:

  • BPCA Registered
  • Basis Prompt
  • In-house schemes approved by BPCA (contact for more details).

    Appropriate levels of membership of a scheme must be commensurate to the individual’s role. As this matter contains numerous variables, the decision on compliance will rest with the Technical and Compliance Manager and Chief Executive.

Trainees

Trainees under direct supervision have 18 months to pass the Level 2 qualification and be fully compliant on a recognised CPD scheme (as above) for the company to remain members of BPCA. 

BS EN 16636 

Companies must be compliant with the BS EN 16636 Standard in Pest Management. BPCA supports members through this process. 

Assessments 

Companies agree to have regular assessments with BPCA to check they continue to meet the standard required for membership as above.


BPCA reserve the right to seek evidence in support of any of the above criteria
